“Power is language.” It was the impressive remark that my teacher told me. He is a profession of policy and has experience of attending lots of official meetings. Thus he totally understands the aspect of language which can be the one of dominant soft powers.

Q: Can anything be easily expressed through language? What are some limitations of speech? Why is language, on the whole, still an advantageous system of communication?
Since language is ambiguous, not having actual state, people should compensate for reality -lack of actual visual image- by their imagination so as to understand what speakers want to tell. It is not easy to do without real experience of seeing or doing. In addition, the education is necessary to utilize the language as a one common social tool to convey one’s opinion. However although people’s intelligence and competence cannot be measured by language proficiency, they are often regarded as people as it is. Thus, language has some limitations but it is essential to develop discussion such as controversial, sensitive and complicated. It is useful to understand and realize the diversity among people having different culture. Overall, language is required for social maturity.

Applied linguisticsのプレゼンとクイズとジャーナルがかぶることよりもGlobal Democracyの先の見えないNoteの方がわたしは憂鬱だ。
来週から新しいIntensive Course(GSP362: Approaching the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong, (Dr. Wai-Kwok Wong) がはじまるのでそのReading Assignmentもとても気になる。
前回の反省から最初に課題を見つけておいて、県立図書館で日本語資料を前もって借りにいくようにしたい。ということは明日にはその課題の内容確認も終わらせないとな。
秋田が合わないって思ったところでどうせどこへいっても同じこと。
以前の生活が嫌で大学に入った。
大学卒業時に、満足な仕事と収入を得られるようにしなければ、ここに六年間もいる意味が全くない。
ランチいこうランチいこうといいながら2年間延期になっていた会に行ってきた。
同世代っていいな。それにお互い学生だから話もどことなく合うし。
勉強以外の話がいろいろできて面白かった。
特に不妊治療の話、異性を信頼できない話、ミシンやさんの話がよかったです。
